  • Regulatory compliance: Tacoma Rail is required to comply with all safety regulations and requirements of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), which is part of the Department of Transportation. The regulations govern the safety of railroad operations and rail employees throughout the country. In addition, Tacoma Rail has its own safety and operating rules for employees and complies with the industry‚Äôs General Code of Operating Rules.

Tacoma Rail is a member of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) and has twice earned the Jake Award. The ASLRRA-sponsored award is named after a longtime railroader, L.S. “Jake” Jacobson, the Copper Basin Railway president and CEO who created the award to recognize small railroads whose proven safety successes come from dedication and attention to detail.
