Lakewood Subdivision
Tacoma Rail has provided freight service on the Lakewood Subdivision since 2004, when we took over the freight service from BNSF Railway.
We have trackage rights over the Sound Transit line between DuPont and South Tacoma. The Lakewood Subdivision serves customers between DuPont and South Tacoma, including the Lakewood Industrial Park, located in Lakewood, Washington.
Service is generally twice a week.

Tacoma Rail serves as a switch carrier for BNSF. Our freight charges are included in BNSF rates, except for special train service and special switching charges.
We also serve certain industries that Union Pacific can access through BNSF’s switching or haulage arrangements.
For rate-making purposes, TMBL does not appear in the route. Stations on the Lakewood Subdivision lines are listed as BNSF stations, or Union Pacific stations when appropriate. Tacoma Rail makes demurrage charges on these lines under the provisions of tariff TMBL 6004.
