TMBL's Capital Division
Tacoma Rail responded to a BNSF request for proposal to provide service on three of
the BNSF's distribution lines in the summer of 2004. Tacoma Rail started its service on these new lines
November 16, 2004. The Capital Division interchanges rail cars with the BNSF in East Olympia. No traffic for the
Capital Division enters Tacoma Rail's Tidelands infrastructure. Rail rates for this division are based on
handling carrier agreements with both the UP and the BNSF Railroads.
Belmore/East Olympia Line
The Belmore/East Olympia Line runs from the Capital Division interchange point in East Olympia to Belmore that is 16 miles down the track. Over 5 customers are
actively being served by Tacoma Rail. Products on the line range from lumber and bricks to cullet aluminum.
Quadlok Line
The Quadlok Line is the smallest of the three lines. It starts in St. Claire and heads Northwest 3 miles to Quadlok. It currently serves one customer
who receives pulp board.
Lakeview Line
The Lakeview Line consists of 15 miles of track starting from Nisqually and heading north through South Tacoma.
It consists of over 15 customers that ship various products consisting of animal feed, plastic pellets, polyethylene and sand.
The Lakeview Line will undergo some construction projects by Sound Transit.
